We were formed as a street motorcycle rights organization located in West Central Illinois, USA.
We were originally District 3, organized in May 1980, of the first ABATE of Illinois, which was created and sanctioned by Easyriders Magazine in the seventies. After the first ABATE of Illinois Corporation was involuntarily dissolved for non-filing of the Annual Corporation Report to the State of Illinois in March 1985, we incorporated on July 29, 1985 as Central Illinois A.B.A.T.E., Inc. We are the oldest continuing A.B.A.T.E. corporation in this state. We have many members that trace their membership back to the original ABATE of Illinois. We fully support ALL brands of motorcycles!
Riding motorcycles is a way of life. Preventing an accident from occurring is of the utmost importance and to that end we try to educate ourselves on the proper operation of motorcycles and try to educate the general public that we, as motorcyclists, in traffic, have the same rights as other highway users. We are constantly under the threat of people that wish to "protect us" in our chosen mode of transportation, and because of that, we constantly monitor the legislative process for anti-motorcyclist laws.
"Please protect us from our protectors"
