We had our general membership meeting February 14th, 2009 at the 21 Club. We had 21 members present.

            Thank you everyone who attended this years state seminars. Legislative was March 4th thanks to all who attended. There is helmet bill proposal in the House (0925) and Senate (1351). Please call let your local representative know to vote NO.  Another bill being discussed is HB0349, distracted driving bill. This bill amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. It creates the offense of distracted driving, which a person commits by operating a motor vehicle in violation of a law or ordinance governing the movement of vehicles while also engaging in certain activities.

Gary has been in contact with Stronghurst School about teaching a motorcycle safety class there.

Scott presented the chapter with the certificates from the state seminar for safety and education donation, A.B.A.T.E. Pac Donation & State board perfect attendance. Scott commented on upcoming May is motorcycle awareness month proclamations and asked for some help in getting them out.

Coming up on March 21st is our annual broomstick pool tournament. Please see the flyer in this paper for details.

We have a few new vendors coming to our annual bash. If you have any ideas on things to do this year at the bash or just ideas, please let us know.

Bylaw changes were read for the first time, discussion and voting at the March 14th meeting

#1 - Article XIV Paragraph C Reads: A member who wishes to run for an elected position for Central Illinois A.B.A.T.E., Inc., must not have missed more than 50% of the General Membership Meetings within the past year, counting from the previous January.

 Proposed change: Eliminate Paragraph C under article XIV

#2 - Article XI Paragraph A reads: This position eliminated by membership vote on 11/10/07.

Proposed change: A: One person shall be elected in January of each year to take care of the sale of products to members of Central Illinois A.B.A.T.E., Inc. They shall keep an accurate and up-to-date ledger of all income and outflow of receipts and monies, with the money being turned in monthly to the treasurer, and a monthly report given to the membership. Products should be available to members at all functions. Not having products at three (3) functions of Central Illinois A.B.A.T.E., Inc. shall result in removal of elected person from the position.

            #3 - Bylaw XIX Paragraph A Reads: Combination Membership Dues, set by A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois, Inc.. Currently is set at $25 for a single Combination Membership, or $45 for a couple’s Combination Membership. Central Illinois A.B.A.T.E., Inc. will retain only $5 of each Combination Member’s dues with the balance being paid to A.B.A.T.E. Of Illinois, Inc.

 Due a change at A.B.A.T.E. of IL. It needs to read :

                        Combination Membership Dues, set by A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois, Inc.. Currently is set at $25 for a single Combination Membership, or $45 for a couple’s Combination Membership. Our next membership meeting is March 14th, 7PM, at The 21 Club, and the next Board meeting is March 11, at 7 PM, at The 21 Club.
