Brothers and Sisters,
     We had our General Membership Meeting April 12, at the 21 Club (the former Benny's) downtown with 22 members present. There were no guests or new members to be introduced.  We had to move the meeting since our free room at RJ's was rented out for Saturday night.

     We had normal reports of the officers and Willis gave his Safety & Ed report on the awareness of farm machinery and hand signals for group riding.  He also cautioned members on watching for bad road conditions such as potholes.

     We voted to accept the offer from G&M for a "paper bike" fundraiser for our Charities for July and part of August.  This is similar to the "Shamrocks" we've all seen before, but this campaign will feature the picture of the Bud Burnout Bike.  In color.  We are all enthused about the event.

     LeRoy "Scooter" Kitch reported on the successful Broomstick Pool Tournament held March 22nd at The Alley in Monmouth and thanked Jim Matthews and "Mitch" for their time in the running the event. The next upcoming event is the Shakedown Run on April 27th, a Sunday Run and may be over by the time you read this.  The information was in the April issue of ABATE of IL News. 

    In case this comes out in time, we don't have a planned meeting time for going to the Bi-State Awareness Ride in the Quad-Cities this year, which is May 3rd.  The organizers have had to charge for participants due to police departments wanting reimbursed for the traffic control.  The Cost to participate this year is $10.  We usually met at the Alpha City Park at 10:30 AM. 

    And, if this comes out in time, we will meet at the Knoxville Hardees, I-74, Exit 51, with intentions to leave at 9:30 AM on May 4th for the ride to Springfield and the Freedom Rally.  That is, leave at 9:30, if you need gas or want to eat, come early.  We will stop in Morton and Lincoln for those with small tanks, or for us old guys with small bladders. 

    The 28th Camp out and Motorcycle Ride-In Reunion will be on Memorial Weekend, see flyer elsewhere in this issue. 

     The Downhill Racers are supposed to take place May 17th?, no one was quite sure at the meeting.    

    Our next Board meeting is at RJ's Pub, 2085 Grand Avenue, Galesburg, at 7 PM  May 7th, and the general membership meeting is on May 10th at 21 Club, 1/2 block North of the Post Office in Galesburg.  If you need to verify a meeting or other information, Bert McElroy is the President and his Phone # is 309 344-4080. Keep in mind that he works most weekend days and call after 5:30 PM or anytime during the day to leave a message on the answer machine.
