Brothers and Sisters,
 

We had our General Membership Meeting January 12th, at RJ's Pub with 21 members present. The special order of business at this meeting was election of Officers. Since there were no contested positions, there were no changes in personnel. Thanks to all of them for volunteering their time to move forward with the goals for this year.

The Officers for 2008 are: President, Bert McElroy; Vice-President, LeRoy Scooter Kitch; Secretary, Jim Pure Pork Dean; Treasuer, Willis Queen, Membership, Richard Gaines; State Board Delegates, Bert McElroy & Gary Swede Johnson; Legislative, Bert McElroy; Safety & Ed, Willis Queen; Public Relations, Scott Sornberger; Activities, LeRoy Scooter Kitch; Special Events, Gary Swede Johnson; Sgt at Arms, Jim Matthews.

Again, we want to thank Scott Sornberger, PR Coordinator, for getting the Trauma Toy Program working again. He has presented toys to the various area emergency personnel that were in need of them and he is waiting for others to get back to him.. We are working on plans to get the program funded for more toy purchases. If any member would like to donate to the Trauma Toy Fund or know of a business that may be interested, send your check to the care of Central IL ABATE, PO Box 1084, Galesburg, IL 61402-1084, and make the check payable to Central IL ABATE and write "Trauma Toy Fund" in the memo area of the check. As with other things we do, donations to this fund is not tax-deductible.

Our first event of 2008 will be the "Leap Year Party" on February 29th and LeRoy has gotten Iron Horse to play at RJ's and since this is a Friday night, it should be a good time to unwind from the weeks work schedule. LeRoy said he is getting some donations from G&M Distributors and possibly the Bud Girls will be there. This is a fundraiser for Trauma Toys, so it will be a good cause to support the program. We are not putting an ad in this paper to try to maximize the potential of profit. The program is no longer broke as Swede won the membership drawing and donated it to the Trauma Toy Fund. Thanks Swede for your donation!!

At the February meeting, 2 By-Law Change proposals will be discussed and voted on. The first will eliminate the Special Event Coordinator position and the second will eliminate the part of the bylaw dealing with the prepayments of the Bash money for the following years event.

Our meetings are held at RJ's Pub, 2085 Grand Avenue, Galesburg, at 7 PM. The Board will be meeting on February 6th, and the general membership on the 9 th. If you need to verify a meeting or other information, Bert McElroy is the President and his Phone # is 309 344-4080. Keep in mind that he works most weekend days and call after 5:30 PM or anytime during the day to leave a message on the answer machine.
